Tips:
Here are 10 that I find helpful:
- Drink plenty of water, ice cold if possible. It burns more calories and it makes you feel full, so you won't overeat.
- Eat salad. It is good for you, tastes good and fills you up so you won't gorge yourself with mom's homemade roasted chicken
and buttered-up mashed potatoes. lol.
- If you're eating something that's kinda unhealthy, try to eat only half of it. At least leave a bite or two behind so
you won't feel like a pig for eating it all :)
- When at a restuarant, order the healthiest thing you can and have all sauces on the side. Those are really fattening and
will rack up the calories like crazy! And skip the cakes, especially cheesecake.
- When you've been eating healthy for a while, like a week, don't reward yourself with a huge slice of chocolate dream cream,
etc, etc, cake. It'll only make you feel bad.
- Control that sweet tooth, but don't deprive. Deprivation only leads to bingeing. For example, if you don't let yourself
have chocolate mousse cake for a month, you'll crave it so bad that you'll go to the grocery store and pick up a whole cake
and eat it up in front of the TV or in bed. MAJOR NO NO!!!!!!!
- Take it from the Europeans. They rock when it comes to this stuff. Eat salad, small portions, walk a lot and don't buy
a LOT of food, unless it's fruits or veggies.
- Get rid of all bad, bingeable foods in your house.
- Replace a bad habit with a good one. Ex., having cake for dessert and having fat-free yogurt topped with fresh fruit.
- Take a look at reverse triggers (see my photo pages) and see what donuts and pizza will make of you. Just think about
it: ditch the American way of eating and adopt the European. If you're against France, or any of that crap, don't agree with
the French, agree with the French eating ways.

Tricks:
Here are some tricks/hints I think about sometimes:
- Don't snack more than once between meals. Snack on fruit and veggies.
- Eat 5 small meals throughout the day.
- When going to parties, eat something healthy and filling beforehand so you don't fill up on empty-calorie party food.
- Count the calories you eat. It's not obsessive, just careful.
- More later, gtg edit other pages on this site.
A few more tips:
- If you are feeling snack-y, but not hungry, suck on 5 or 6 CHEWABLE vitamin C tablets. They taste
like oranges and actually do get rid of the cravings. Really, I've tried it and it does work.
- If you just can't resist eating some sort of dessert, eat only half of it (half of one serving, I
mean). i.e. cookie: eat half, cake: don't eat the frosting and filling stuff, etc.
- Before you go to eat, make it a rule to do a set number of push-ups, crunches, squats, etc, before
you eat. After you exercise, you're not hungry anymore.
- Also, ask yourself these questions: 1) Am I really hungry? 2) How will this food be nutritional?,
3)How will I feel after I've eaten it?, 4) Could I do something more productive
with my time (if the answer to the fist question is no) instead of eating?
IMPORTANT NOTE: By being healthy, I don't mean becoming anorexic, especially for growing kids. If you want to lower your
calorie consumption, by all means, do so, but make sure to take vitamins and eat at least 1,000 calories a day. Thin and skinny,
not emaciated and skeletal. Remember that. ;)
